Travelin', Travelin', I'm just Travelin' thru...Ohio

Well, as Sarah said in the last post, travel season has begun at The Master's College. My name is Jonathan Holmes, and I am currently traveling in the great state of Ohio. I normally do not travel like the other counselors but plan the different events here for prospective students like College View Weekend, Mondays @ Master's, and regular campus visits. However, the Midwest Counselor, Shannon Ong is currently in Texas.

Last night I visited Dayton Christian School in Miamsiburg, Ohio in the afternoon along with several other schools. That night I went to Fairhaven Church for the first NACCAP college fair in the Ohio circuit. The fair was a blast, and I got to meet so many students. Being the only California school represented was a good thing and a bad thing. A lot of students in the Midwest are looking for schools in the area as opposed to coming out to the West Coast. If you are a prospective student from the Midwest or the East Coast, I definitely encourage you to check us out...we are only a plane flight away :)

This afternoon I visited Worthington Christian School in Columbus, Ohio. Tonight I head to the second college fair on the circuit. If you're in the Columbus area, come visit us!

PS- If you are thinking about coming out to visit the college- sign up as soon as possible for our Fall College View Weekend at www.masters.edu/vw. We are going to Disneyland this year, and it's going to be fabulous...don't miss out on this awesome opportunity to visit Southern California and The Master's College. GO BUCKEYES!

let the travel season begin!

Leaves are falling, wind is blowing and school is back in session. New students have arrived at TMC and settled in after a week exploding with welcome. They had way too much fun! Returning students were able to reunite with roommates and friends at the college's welcome back party while enjoying good music and ice-cream...what's not to love? Ahh, makes me remember my days as a student...so, what does all this mean for the Admissions Office? It's TRAVEL SEASON! With schools back in session, Fall is officially loved and known as our office's time to visit high schools, colleges and youth groups around the country (and one sweet day around the world...hopefully!). We attend college fairs to spread the word that The Master's College is the school you want to attend if you are looking for a Christian college that upholds biblical truth and has fun during the process of studying and living with other beleivers. It's the place to be, which is why the counselors always look forward to returning home to our Admissions family here at the college.
Last week was the kick-off of travel season as I spent time in Northern California. Erin Walter is the official counselor for anyone interested in TMC from Northern California; however, if you were able to attend any of the fairs where I represented our school, you would see me--Sarah Ikegami.
My week began visiting Capital Christian High School in Sacramento, California. Wow! What a gorgeous new facility the students are able to use. Praise the Lord for their growing student body and killer sports teams!
Did I mention I grew up in the Sacramento Valley? As an alumni of Wilton Christian School, I am always glad to return to NorCal, as so many people have nicknamed the area with stickers on their cars. Since I was in the area, I was able to visit my family in Herald, California...a booming population of 900...make that 901...I came to visit!

My trip took me to Santa Rosa Junior College for a college transfer fair. With over 30,000 students (that's right, 30,000!), I was able to meet people interested in attending our school. The Master's College is a bit smaller than this school (we have about 1000 students...ok, it's alot smaller), but I was able to emphasize the intimate fellowship students share in the dorms and in the classroom. Did I mention we are able to go to chapel on-campus three times a week?
My next visit was to Windsor High School for a college fair. This was Windsor's first fair to host and they did a fantastic job! There were so many great students and parents to get to know and talk to about TMC. Were you at the fair? What did you think? Have you checked out our website yet? I hope you had as much fun as I did and I hope you call our office to learn more about TMC!

As you can see, the gym was packed with students getting information about colleges all over the country.

The next morning took me to Napa Valley Junior College for a transfer fair. There were many students there attending classes and able to grab some TMC info during their breaks. I was able to spend time with a few students particularly interested in going to a Christian College, especially after hearing about our Biblical Counseling Program.

I ran into more than college students at the fair that morning...

It appears peacocks were interested in learning more about college, too. They were very friendly.

I made my way back to beautiful Santa Clarita, California and I am back in the office until my next trip to Birmingham, Alabama and Augusta and Jackson, Georgia. Be on the lookout for more details and pictures from our trips. I speak for all the counselors when I say we love our college and being able to tell others about TMC. Helping you apply and arrive on-campus is a blessing we look forward to! Please let us know how we can serve you as you are discerning God's will in your life!

New Addition

Our office wanted to show off the latest member to our team. It has yet to be named so let's have a little competition. Leave your idea for a name in the comments and in two weeks we will take the best three and vote on them. The winning name will be awarded to our new cart.

You and six of your friends could be getting a tour on this!!!

Intern Training

Ahhh yes even on the holiday weekend there is no rest. Early Saturday our staff came on campus to train the new interns that will be helping us this year. Why is this worth a Saturday you might ask? Because while we are out traveling they are going to be covering for us. I am super excited for this years group of students and hopefully if you come visit you will get to meet some of them and see how much fun they all are. Here are some pictures of the morning.
